Enterprise Architecture Experience
My EA experience includes all aspects
of the field.  Establishing architectures
from the ground up, integrating with
existing business and technical
processes, and implementing tools and
frameworks.
Rarely do interesting applications exist in isolation, therefore integration
skills are key.
Successful enterprise architecture (EA) design, and
implementation requires business
, integration, and technical expertise.  EA
is often times a politically charged area, so sensitivity to the culture and
workings of the organization is paramount.  The projects outlined below
highlight my experience with all facets of EA across companies of various
sizes and business focus.

Executives at Fortune 100 as well as start up companies have hired me to
implement an enterprise architecture for their organizations.  These
projects have involved documenting the architecture roadmap,
implementing governance methods, using industry standard tools and
methods, and integrating the EA process with the SDLC, development
processes, and artifacts that currently exist.
Large and Small Company Know-how
I  was the VP of Architecture at Cigna Health Insurance.  My technical
and business skills allowed me to successfully organize the architecture
group, facilitate and integrate the architectural process into company
projects, and develop cross discipline groups to "sell" the long term EAM
vision.

The Phoenix Companies, a medium size financial firm contracted with me
to implement an EA process and roadmap for the company.  An eclectic
approach using TOGAF and other frameworks was designed
implemented.  The overriding goal was to deliver EA value to the
organization in an iterative fashion with a focus on governance and
improvement of overall software quality.  While at the Phoenix
Companies I also led an effort to institute a new SDLC based on an Agile
software development approach.

As the founder and Chief Architect/Technologist for LearingBrands a
web based training company I was tasked with starting up a technology
group, from the ground up.  This included implementing a long term
architecture roadmap and putting light weight processes in place to
insure that the long-term vision was not lost in the daily issues of
development and bug fixes.

All of the projects above had an off-shore component and these off site
resources had to understand and integrate with the new EA processes.
In each case I developed tools and techniques to facilitate this
knowledge transfer.
